Installing Google Analytics

You'll need to install Google Analytics to track where your visitors come from, where they go on your site, and even where they go when they are leaving your site.

  1. Go to Google Analytics and setup a new site, go to the part in the process where it shows you the code to copy and paste on each page.
  2. Copy and paste this code onto notepad or some other simple editor.
  3. Look through the code for your GA tracking id, it should look like UA-XXXXXXX-X. You'll need to copy this id code and use it below.
  4. Go to your wordpress plugins "Add New" page (<your-site>/wp-admin/plugin-install.php).
  5. Search for Ultimate Google Analytics.
  6. Click "install" over at the far right, the install will automatically download and install the plugin.
  7. Click "Activate" to turn that plugin "on"
  8. Open the Settings group and click on "Ultimate GA".
  9. Paste your Google Analytics id code in the first box, the rest of the settings should be acceptable "as is".
  10. Go back to Google Analytics and finish processing the request.
